What to do in November

Birdwatching
There are quite a few places to go birding around the hotel. Most are centred around the Taw Torridge estuary near Barnstaple. These are Northam Burrows, Braunton Burrows, Sherpa Marsh and Islay Marsh. There is also RSPB Andrew's Wood near Georgeham.

Autumnal Arlington
Arlington Court near Barnstaple is an intimate and intriguing Regency house, set in an extensive estate and housing the Trust’s largest collection of horse-drawn vehicles. Visit this month for some spectacular autumn colours.

Exmoor National Park
Covering 265 square miles and home to Britain's magnificent wild red deer and Exmoor ponies, you can wander at will over thousands of acres of heather clad moor, on byways by sparkling rivers, through ancient oak wood and within hidden coombes.

Breaking News – New Ferry Route to Wales Announced

North Devon and Wales are to be linked by a ferry service for the first time in modern history. The 50 minute foot passenger crossing will begin in Easter 2010 and operating between Ilfracombe and Swansea will mean our guests will be able to take a car free day trip a little further afield. Swansea is the gateway to the Gower Peninsula, the first area in the United Kingdom to be designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and home to some truly amazing beaches. There’s also the Mumbles with over 120 shops and restaurants to explore.
